Avatars are customizable characters that can often be
assigned narrative through their clothing, face, and style. My concept is to explore the duality of aesthetics in the garment based on the wearer (different avatar). I iuse ‘contextual design’ and examine how garment details such as necklines, length, draping, distressing, and stitchlines can create different aesthetics based on the same avatar. This allows for a fashion industry to streamline resources and time by using a digital space/avatar to fit, model and campaign their garments.
Alongside the avatars, there is a handmade doll that has been painted, wigged, accesorized, and clothed in a hand sewn tulle dress. The utility of the doll is to showcase the versatility of working on a small scale after the initial digital period. This, too, reduces the amount of fabric waste and allows the designer to illustrate their clothes physically without leaving behind a large enviromental footprint.
